AUSTIN

Armin Steege, a licensed professional counselor and family therapist, has been named chief operating officer for the Oaks Treatment Center, which provides residential care for youths.

CORSICANA
Navarro Regional Hospital has announced the appointment of Jack M. Wilcox Jr. as chief financial officer. Navarro had served as chief financial officer of Medical Park Hospital in Hope, Ark., since 2002.

DALLAS
Children’s Medical Center Dallas announced three senior-level promotions. Doug Hock has been promoted to senior vice president of operations. Hock joined Children’s earlier this year as Legacy administrator.

Jim Herring, formerly vice president of human resources, has been promoted to senior vice president of administration.

Patricia Winning, currently senior vice president of business development, will add ambulatory services to her scope of responsibilities. 

Stephen L. Mansfield, FACHE, has been named president and chief executive officer of Methodist Health System. For the past six years, Mansfield served as president/chief executive officer of St. Vincent Health System in Little Rock, Ark.

HOUSTON
Craig Cordola has been named chief executive officer of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital after serving as interim CEO since June. Cordola has been the assistant vice president of operations for the facility since 2003. He has worked as regional operations director for Texas Children’s Hospital and Texas Children’s Pediatric Associates.

P&W Architects, L.L.P. announced the promotion of Cathryn E. Horan, AIA; Stephen D. Kolkmeier and Frank E. Marquez to associate partner. The firm has designed major projects for health care providers including Memorial Hermann, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Harris County Hospital District and University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston.
 
Scott Koenig has been named chief executive officer of Twelve Oaks Medical Center. Koenig was chief executive officer of Spring Branch Medical Center since August 2004.

Texas Health Resources named Ronald R. Long executive vice president and chief financial officer. He will begin work in November. Long formerly served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati in Ohio.

Tenet Healthcare Corp. has named James M. Murphy chief executive officer of Plaza Specialty Hospital in Houston. Previously, Murphy served as chief operating officer of Tenet's RHD Memorial Medical Center in Dallas.

KAUFMAN
Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman has named Patsy Youngs president of the hospital effective in September. Youngs has served as administrator of Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce and chief executive officer of Hunt Memorial Hospital District.

 

Bonner Elected as New Trustee to AHA Board

Tucker Bonner, CHE, is one of seven newly elected members of the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees for terms beginning Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, 2009. The board of trustees is the policy-making body of the AHA and has ultimate authority for the control and management of its direction and finances.
      Bonner is president and chief executive officer of King’s Daughters Hospital in Temple. Before joining King’s Daughters in 1987, he was executive vice president of Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Bonner also served in a variety of positions at Memorial Hospital System in Houston. With his election to the AHA board, Bonner also will serve as chairman of AHA’s Regional Policy Board 7, which includes Texas.
     He is currently chair-elect of VHA Southwest Community Health Corporation. Bonner is the immediate past chairman of the Texas Association of Voluntary Hospitals and served from 1995 to 1996 as chairman of the Texas Hospital Association. Since 1991, he has served three terms as a member of AHA Regional Policy Board 7. He is active in numerous local civic and cultural organizations.
